Delivery Models

Artezio adapts to the business objectives of its customers and uses several flexible global delivery models including the onsite/offshore model, the offshore project outsourcing model, a dedicated software development center setup, and on-site project staffing.

Onsite/Offshore Model

Artezio has mastered the onsite/offshore, or virtual extension model of engaging our offshore resources. In this model, for each project, Artezio creates a team with appropriate technical and managerial skill sets, with full time team members involved in the project for its entire duration from start to signoff.

Typically this team is responsible for developing certain components or functional modules. It works as an extension of a client onsite development team. The actual development by the extension team is carried out in Eastern Europe, with an Artezio coordinator working with the client onsite.

If your organization already has experience in outsourcing IT tasks offshore, your own outsourcing coordinator may work directly with the extension team offshore. Real time communication is maintained within the distributed team using conference calls, video conferencing, Web collaboration tools, instant messaging and e-mail. Engaging the onsite/offshore model will deliver value quickly even on small projects because Artezio has invested in offshore collaboration methodologies and technologies supporting offshore resources. Try Artezio out with a pilot project and let us demonstrate what Artezio can do for you.

  • Artezio consultant(s) coordinates onsite (full time or part time)
  • Client product specialists write up “tasks” and e-mail them to Artezio for coding
  • Artezio scales up and down its developers workforce depending on current need

Project Outsourcing Model

Project outsourcing model is an attractive option for small and medium sized projects with a well defined scope. It is equally attractive to Artezio's customers worldwide. Web site design, custom e-business and e-commerce applications tailored for a specific purpose, small business and home software applications, and hardware drivers fall into this category.

More often it is a full cycle all-inclusive project outsourcing (from system design to testing, deployment and maintenance). However, it can also be a partial outsourcing project when Artezio is responsible for only some of the software lifecycle stages.

While outsourcing an IT project to an external provider (offshore or locally), there are factors that Artezio encourages the customer to watch closely. They include scope definition, attention to change management, and well structured communication. The role of an outsourcing coordinator on the client side is difficult to underestimate.

A project outsourcing model pricing may be based on the time and materials basis as well as the fixed price basis. In the latter case Artezio charges a negotiated fixed price for the complete scope of work linked to tangible deliverables and scheduled milestone deadlines.

Artezio offers professional knowledge of leading technologies coupled with best practices and commitment to quality to ensure the success of your project.

Software Development Center

For client engagements lasting six months or longer, Artezio has designed and successfully implemented a unique business proposition of setting up and operating a dedicated software development center. Such an organization works exclusively for one client, and provides all facilities and utilities necessary for software development.

This unique business proposition is yet to be fully matched in the global sourcing provider market in Eastern Europe. In the past couple of years Artezio has excelled in creating and running software development centers for two successful technology companies headquartered in US and Japan. Another software development center for a new client is being currently blueprinted.

Artezio is one of the most renown J2EE platform shops in Europe. Artezio's proposition for technology companies to deploy their software development centers has been extremely successful due to the rising interest of high-technology companies in various vertical industries around the world to secure, efficient and low cost Java-based enterprise and Internet solutions. An example of an industry specific initiative based on the success and wide adoption of Java technologies is the telecom's Operations Support Systems through Java Initiative that rapidly gains recognition among telecom operators, equipment makers, and ISVs.

Software development centers located in Eastern Europe are tapping the vast scientific potential accumulated over decades in a country with a long tradition of multidisciplinary research in fundamental and applied science. Essentially this is your own software development lab located remotely.

Artezio personnel realizes the complexity and responsibility involved in creating a software development center for technology companies providing services to their strategic and smaller clients with their own business rules and practices. Therefore, Artezio does not pre-package software development centers with options or defined scenarios. Instead, Artezio tailors them to fit your specific need, standard operating procedures, and corporate culture. Artezio's staff does everything possible to understand the uniqueness of your business goals in seeking a global sourcing provider in Europe and fine tune every detail of the Service Level Agreement (SLA). And something to bear in mind is that it is not going to cost you a fortune, because your software development centers operate and function from our low cost offshore territory.

On-site Project Staffing

This type of service has been especially popular among different companies experiencing an immediate need or periodic demand in qualified and skilled software developers, analysts, and testers at short notice. Artezio's specialists have been involved in large scale projects in insurance, public health, banking, currency trading, retail, and pharmaceuticals vertical markets.

Artezio encourages customers to participate in selecting and/or approving a team of Artezio’s software engineers that will work for them. The engineers are carefully pre-screened according to the customer’s requirements (technical and communication skills, experience level and profession).

The team is deployed onsite for as long as necessary to successfully complete the project (six months on average) or longer if the customer chooses to re-use the team on new related projects. Artezio specialists work together with, or more often as a part of, the customer’s project or product team, thus becoming closely familiar with customer's trade and congruent with customer's short-term and mid-term business objectives.

The advantages of augmenting your staff with Artezio specialists include:

  • The ease of one-stop procurement of versatile technical resources; if you need resources to meet new project development all it takes is to approach Artezio and get the resources
  • As project scope increases/decreases, Artezio turns around quickly with a smooth scaling up or scaling down response
  • Cost savings: avoid costs of hiring permanent staff, avoid unnecessary enlargement of your human resource department, avoid new hire training costs, pay no ongoing employee salary and benefits costs

Time and materials

The key advantage of a Time and Materials contract is that professional resources are assigned for the whole project duration, thus technical expertise and practical knowledge can be developed over the time. Moreover, a T&M model allows customers to increase and reduce the number of resources in case a project demands changes. And finally, MBM (management by metrics) and MBO (management by objectives) used in the course of various IT development stages offer better understanding of the cost structure and returns of applying a T&M model.

Fixed price

A fixed price model is an ideal choice for projects that have a clear scope, established execution methodologies, and a well-defined set of requirements. A customer is obliged to pay a single price agreed upon in advance before the project start. A fixed price contract can provide for payment made at periodic intervals. Normally, the customer makes an advance payment, some payments within the contract period, and a final payment at completion of the contract.

On the contrary, the T&M model charges the customer for the hours spent on the fulfillment of a project and the arisen costs of the service provider.

The advantage of this pricing mechanism is that for the customer it might be easier to establish a budget for a project. But in this case, there may appear some discrepancies between the customer and service provider in terms of the overall work done. For example, the client may consider that he paid the extra money for this or that volume of work, or he asks the service provider to include additional hours of work not compensating anything.
