A number of events that were organized by IBD and Le Cercle Kondratieff together with Russian IT companies (RUSSOFT members) took place on 28-29 November. The Russian delegation included RUSSOFT members and the chairman of the BoD and CEO of Artezio Pavel Adylin. The French side was represented by Vice Mayor of Paris Christian Shate, members of French and Parisian governmental organizations, President of OW2 (The open source community for infrastructure software) Cedric Thomas, representatives of two leading IT clusters in the Paris region (Cap Digital, Systematic), a number of research organizations, and top-ten Paris universities.
During the two-day event participants discussed the possibility for the participation of Russian companies in European technology platforms; ways of RUSSOFT cooperation with Parisian IT clusters; prospects of opening Russian software development offices in France, and also prospects of cooperation between French IT companies and their Russian partners. The representatives of the Russian companies held a number of meetings with their French colleagues.
Pavel Adylin, Artezio CEO and the chairman of RUSSOFT, said: “This event was… very informative. Its main task was to look at the French software development industry, to see how its accompanied ecosystem (I mean the infrastructure, IT associations and regional clusters, government support for the IT sector, technological platforms, financing of innovative projects, technical education) is organized, to understand the potentials of the interaction with French IT companies.”
With the help of colleagues from ITMO meetings were organized between the RUSSOFT delegation and representatives of several corporations: THALES, the European Technology Platform ARTEMIS (embedded systems) and ITEA2 (strategic pan-European program of Advanced Studies in SiSS (Software-intensive Systems and Services). ITEA2 identified promising areas for interaction which include cloud computing, BigData, transport control systems, medical IT applications, etc.
Questons of interaction with the ARTEMIS technology platform were discussed with the Board member of the platform, the Director of the Advanced Research of THALES Corporation Laila Gide. According to Laila Gide, line 2012-2013 is a transitional period for many European institutions, including the ARTEMIS, a strategic program and budget will be worked out, as well as new long-term projects and initiatives will be proposed.
